We Will Remember Them - D-Day 70 Years On

We Will Remember Them - D-Day 70 Years On

What a poignant day - 70 years since D-Day. I am looking forward to listening to the coverage on Radio 2 - especially the concert at 8pm. So this card is for everyone who gave us so much all those years ago - we must never forget them - and those who continue to do so.

The stamp set used is Stampin' Up!'s Words of Courage - perfect for today. Colours used are Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso & Whisper White

The words were all lined up and stamped using the Stamp-a-ma-jig. The topper was cut out using the Deco Labels Collection & Circles Collection Framelits. Linen Thread and Cherry Cobbler Candy Dots finished the card.  It ended up a random size as I wanted to repeat the words three times.  Luckily I could use the Envelope Punch Board to make a custom-sized envelope!

Lots of the boys from Colchester have been parachuting in as part of the ceremonies and today I am proud to live in the home of the Parachute Regiment and to remember those who fought on the beaches for us.

Retirement Card with Stampin' Up! Lovely as a Tree

Retirement Card with Stampin' Up! Lovely as a Tree

I wanted to make a retirement card for my lovely GP who retires at the end of this month. As soon as I saw this week's Mojo Monday Sketch I knew which Stampin' Up! stamp set I was going to use - it had to be Lovely as a Tree.  The colours used are Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip and Pear Pizzazz.

I followed the sketch exactly for this one. The background was stamped using the Hardwood stamp onto Very Vanilla card.  I coloured the tree image using Stampin' Write Markers - I covered the whole tree in Pear Pizzazz and then used Old Olive to pick out certain areas. I cut the image out using the Big Shot and the Circles Collection Framelits. As I was going for a vintage look I used Core'dinations and sanded the edges.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments punched out using the Word Window punch. I finished the card with Candy Dots and Linen Thread - which seems to feature in rather a lot of my cards!

I hope he liked it and has a long and happy retirement.

A Birthday Card with Stampin' Up! Create a Cupcake

A Birthday Card with Stampin' Up! Create a Cupcake

A birthday card for you today using the Stampin' Up! Create a Cupcake stamp set.  The colours I have used are Early Espresso, Crumb Cake and Strawberry Slush. The cupcake sprinkles were stamped with VersaMark and embossed with Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder. I lined up the icing and cake case using the Stamp-a-ma-jig. The film frame is cut using the On Film Framelits Dies and Big Shot - I love these dies!

The rectangular panel is a piece of Raspberry Ripple Core'dinations which I ran through the Big Shot using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder and then distressed the dots with the Stampin' Sanding Block.  Two circles were cut using the Circles Collections Framelits - one using the dotty paper from the 2012-14 DSP Paper Stack and the other in Silver Glimmer Paper - isn't it sparkly?

The sentiment was stamped and cut into a banner using Paper Snips. A Rhinestone Basic Jewel is the "cherry" on the card!

I hadn't used this stamp set before - there is also a matching Cupcake Builder Punch so I might have to get that as well!

Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die and Stampin' Up In Colors 2012-14

Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die and Stampin' Up In Colors 2012-14

Oh dear Norwich City Football Club managed to get themselves relegated from the Premiership this weekend - my husband will be very grumpy so just as well he is away at the moment! If you are into football then you might know that Norwich are know as the Canaries and their kit is yellow & green which inspired my colours for this card.

I have used Gumball Green, Summer Starfruit and Midnight Muse - all from the Stampin' Up! In Colors 2012-14 which WILL be retiring at the end of June - so if you love them make sure you stock up NOW!

I used the Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die to cut a piece of Summer Starfruit & Gumball Green and then layered the "waste" Gumball Green hexagons on the Summer Starfruit base to create the background.  The cherry stamp is from the Create a Cupcake stamp set.  I love the Occasions Alphabet stamp set - there is a phrase for every occasion.  The sentiment and mat are cut using the Circles Collection Framelits. The card is finished with a Midnight Muse Stitched Satin Ribbon bow.

Regarding Dahlias Stamp Set from Stampin' Up!

Regarding Dahlias Stamp Set from Stampin' Up!

A cleaner card for today - no sponging on this one!  I used the Regarding Dahlias stamp set and the colours are Perfect Plum and Island Indigo.  The background is embossed using the Big Shot and the Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut a piece of DSP from the Regals Color Collection DSP Stack.

The card was finished with Island Indigo Baker's Twine and Candy Dots - I love these, such a quick way to add colour detail to a card.

A Moonlight Scene with Stampin' Up! Wetlands

A Moonlight Scene with Stampin' Up! Wetlands

Several of my Military Wives Choir friends are doing the Moonwalk in London tonight so I wanted to make a card to let them know I will be thinking of them! I wanted the moon to be the feature on this card so I know it isn't technically correct and should be behind the hills!  And I used purple as that is the choir colour!

I started by stamping the grass using a stamp from the Wetlands stamp set and VersaMark - I heat embossed this with Silver Stampin' Emboss Powder and then over stamped with Black StaxOn ink. I made a mask of the moon and some hills using sticky notes and then added ink using a Brayer. The colours used are Perfect Plum, Smoky Slate and Soft Sky. I added a bit of texture to the bottom section with a a stamp from Gorgeous Grunge. The sentiment is from Million and One - and is so true! Every single lady doing the Moonwalk tonight is fabulous!

I cut the sentiment out using a framelit from Apothecary Accents, matted it on Basic Black card and attached using Silver Ribbon

So what do you think? I need to perfect my Brayering technique - You Tube here I come!

Good luck to EVERYONE Moonwalking tonight! It will be an amazing experience.
