Happy Father's Day with Stampin' Up!

Happy Father's Day with Stampin' Up!

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there - my card will be late as my calendar showed next weekend as Father's Day - grrrrrrr!  The picture is a bit dark as well as I was in a rush to post it - sorry.

So I have used the design from one of my previous cards as it is quick to make!  The colours are Pool Party, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake and Tangerine Tango which tie in with the Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper (retiring) I used. Can you spy any new products on there? Yes the cute little ties are from the NEW Baby's First Framelit Dies - available in the 2014/2015 Annual Catalogue out on 1 July.

The background on the largest banner was stamped using images from Clockworks (retiring) and a stamp from a retired set (Affection Collection). I ran a piece of Very Vanilla card through the Big Shot using the Argyle Embossing Folder and sponged the edges.  The banners were all cut using the Banners Collection Framelits and the card fished with a sentiment from Teeny Tiny Sentiments and Candy Dots.

Hopefully Dad will like it when is arrives - I know Mum will anyway! I am also thinking of everyone who is missing their Dads today - they will always be with you.

Here are the main Stampin' Up! supplies used today. Stampin' Up! Clockworks Stamp Set with Banners Framelits Dies

Stampin' Up! Clockworks Stamp Set with Banners Framelits Dies

Ok - so when I first saw the Stampin' Up! Banners Framelits Dies I must admit I thought "how hard is it to cut banners?". Well not particularly if we are honest, BUT these dies make it SUPER easy! And the added bonus is if you buy the Perfect Pennants stamp set in a bundle with the dies then you save 15% - and let's face it - we all love a bargain!

The colours used today are Wild Wasabi, Basic Grey, Smoky Slate & Soft Sky - I just love this combination. I embossed a piece of Soft Sky card using the Big Shot and Argyle Embossing Folder and sponged the edges with Smoky Slate. I created a piece of patterned paper using stamps from the fabulous Clockworks stamp set and then cut various sized banners from card using the dies.

The sentiment is from Perfect Pennants and is so true.  A piece of Wild Wasabi Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon finishes the card.  I was really pleased with how it turned out.

Steampunk & Cogs with Stampin' Up! Clockworks

Steampunk & Cogs with Stampin' Up! Clockworks

So Clockworks was ANOTHER Stampin' Up! stamp set which I had bought as I loved it and then NEVER used as I wasn't sure how to use it......  Steampunk is bang on trend and is defined as "a genre of science fiction that typically features steam-powdered machinery rather than advanced technology" - well this card fits the bill perfectly.

As soon as I saw the Starburst Framelits Dies I knew they would make perfect cogs when combined with the Circles Collection Framelits. The picture below shows how to layer up the framelits before running them through the Big Shot:

So to the card. I  used Soft Suede and Crushed Curry ink and the Clockworks stamp set to stamp the background and added Old Olive & Crumb Cake splodges and splashes using the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.  I then sprizted the card using Crumb Cake re inker and rubbing alcohol.  I cut out several cogs as shown above and built them up - I am not sure an engineer would approve of my configuration though!

The sentiment is from the Perfect Pennants stamp set and cut using the Banners Framelits Dies (don't forget you can save 15% buying these as a bundle)  I layered it on Linen Thread - I seem to be using rather a lot of this at the moment!

I have to say I was really pleased with how this turned out - I am loving the distressed grungy style right now and this was fun to make.
